Learning how to taste wines critically for the first time is the fun part, but the exam might seem a little daunting!

But that’s easier said than done, right?

The problem with passing the exam - and getting the best possible result - is not necessarily that the material is too challenging, but that many students approach the material and revision in the wrong way.
People who fail the exam, or don’t do as well as they had hoped, have generally made one of these three mistakes:
They haven’t been engaging effectively with the course content outside class
They haven’t practised the multiple choice questions enough
They leave it all too late.

All of my WSET Level 2 mock exams and practice questions are written as independent revision resources to complement your official WSET course materials. They are not official WSET exam questions or past papers.
The aim isn't to memorise hundreds of answers. It's to get you to the point where you understand the material, recognise what a question is testing and can confidently work out the best answer on exam day.
WSET Level 2 Mock Exams
Doing practice questions is one thing, but at some point you need to find out how you’ll get on when you sit down and tackle a complete WSET Level 2 mock exam.
That's why I've included 8 full mock exams, each with 50 multiple-choice questions, in the Wine With Jimmy Level 2 revision programme.
My advice is not to rush through all eight of them. Use them throughout your revision. Take a mock exam, see how you've done and, most importantly, look carefully at the questions you got wrong.
Don't just learn the correct answer and move on. Go back to that part of the syllabus and make sure you understand why you got it wrong and why the correct answer is correct. That's where the real learning happens.
As you get closer to your exam, I recommend sitting at least some of the mock exams under timed conditions. Give yourself the same 60 minutes you'll have in the real exam and answer all 50 questions without looking at your notes. This will help you get used to the pace of the exam and show you which areas still need a bit more work.

The WSET Level 2 Award in Wines exam consists of 50 multiple-choice questions. You have 60 minutes to complete the exam, giving you just over a minute per question on average. There are no short-written-answer questions or a practical tasting exam at Level 2.

You need to achieve 55% or above to pass the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines exam. A score of 70–84% is awarded a Pass with Merit, while 85% or above is awarded a Pass with Distinction.

There isn't one revision timetable that works for everyone. The amount of time you need will depend on your existing wine knowledge, how recently you completed your course and how confident you are with the syllabus. Regular shorter revision sessions are generally more effective than leaving everything until the final few days. Use practice questions and mock exams to identify where you need to spend the most time.

Don't use practice questions simply to memorise answers. After each question, make sure you understand why the correct answer is correct and revisit the relevant topic when you make a mistake. As your knowledge improves, combine topic-based questions with full mock exams so you become comfortable switching between different areas of the syllabus.
